Tantrum Theatre is currently seeking expressions of interest from directors for the 2012 production of our Shakespeare in the Park series in collaboration with Newcastle L!vesites.

Tantrum Theatre is a not-for-profit youth arts organisation that provides opportunities for young people aged 5-30 years in Newcastle and the Hunter region to participate in drama.

Tantrum nurtures young artists by providing opportunities for growth, risk taking and excellence through performance based training and activities inNewcastle, while linking these young artists with innovative arts programming with local and national arts organisations.

Following on from the success of the 2011 production of As You Like it Tantrum will once again work towards creating a magical experience for people of all ages to enjoy family-friendly Shakespeare in Newcastle’s beautiful and unique parks.

The director of this exciting production will be given the opportunity to adapt an original Shakespearean text in a way that is both innovative and accessible to modern audiences. 

Auditions for actors will be held in October 2011 and rehearsals will begin in January 2012. The performance will be held in Newcastle from 4-17 March 2012 with the potential to take the production to regional NSW.

 Previous directing experience is required and general experience with Shakespearean text is preferred. A director’s fee will be paid.
